5Degrees Networking #1 -Off To A Rousing Start!

What started as a Facebook Group for Singaporean GLBTQ professionals slowly but surely gathered momentum and led to the start of 5Degrees#1, the first of the (we hope) many networking sessions that will occupy a foothold in our GLBTQ landscape. The 5Degrees networking session hope to provide the right avenue for GLBTQ professionals to come together to collaborate, and in the process bring about more business opportunities and growth in the community.
5Degrees #1 started off with founder Willie, giving a short but candid sharing of how the whole concept of 5Degrees came about. Willie quickly gave the floor to Guest Speaker Stuart Koe, CEO and founder of Fridae.com. Stuart shared with the keen audience on his personal and professional journey with Fridae.com, on how he and his team managed to bring an unknown portal a decade ago, to an internationally-recognized GLBTQ portal today. Stuart articulated how he managed to deal with some of the external factors that hindered Fridae.com, which are really good case studies for any budding entrepreneurs who would want to start a GLBTQ-related business.
After the talk, was a round of facilitated networking session, to ensure that strangers were introduced to one another and name cards were collected. In fact, the buzz continued, and even towards midnight, 2 hours after the official end of the networking session, pockets of participants were still seen hanging around at Play, our venue sponsor for the evening.
So it's off to a rousing start for 5Degrees #1, and we hope that you can partake in this networking adventure with us for the upcoming session. See you there!
