5 Degrees Networking #2
____________________________________________________________

F.A.C.T.S

It was a rainy Wednesday evening. 16 April, 8pm, to be exact. The 5Degrees participants started to trickle in. Slowly but surely. In the following 20 minutes, the crowd gradually filled Play's compound. That signaled for the night to begin, with the guest speaker for 5Degrees#2, Irene Ang. Being her usual self - entertaining, yet, at the same time – enlightening, Irene shared with the keen audience, her personal journey - how she first started FLY Entertainment; how she faced obstructions, from both discouraging friends and associates, as well as an environment that put forth a glaring “NO” to any entrepreneurs who wanted to start a talent-management business from scratch. Then, Irene knew nothing much about business management. She didn't know what a business plan was, either. But that didn’t stop Irene. She persisted and persevered, and she lived to share and tell the story of her success. She learned through friends; she learned from their mistakes, and their advice. She co-wrote a book, and in it, are the details of F.A.C.T.S, which she shared with the floor during 5Degrees#2, which are what she felt, the keys to her success. F - faith, A - Attitude, C - Commitment, T - Teachability, S - S-xercise (add in a little bit of Singlish, lah). Amidst her funny sharing, she didn't forget to do a little publicity on the book, which she co-wrote.

The 3 H's. Head, Hands, Heart.

Irene, obviously in her form, bantered with the crowd, and jokingly (though sporting the most earnest demeanor) indicated that she intended to run for presidency. She then shared briefly another 3 H's - Head, Hands, and Heart, and stressed the importance of these 3 H’s in every thing that she does. She then ended the talk and kindly remained for the rest of the session to autograph for those who made a beeline for her book.

Facilitated and Free-and-Easy Mingling.

The night continued. In this free-and-easy mingling session, the facilitators helped introduce members to one another, and it was the customary exchange of name cards. It was a bustling and interactive environment, with members talking about their work, getting to know each others' profession. Hopefully, this networking session can bring about constructive and beneficial business opportunities and bridging business ties closer among people in the community. The night saw a turn out of more than 110 members, a figure just as astonishing as the first networking session. Looking forward to #3 - 25th June, 8pm at Play!

Special thanks to Ian for providing the pictures, and Play for the venue.
