5Degrees Networking #4 - IT!
Rainy Nights..
On 3rd September, we had our first networking event away from our usual venue, and DYMK was happy to host our 4th session. As usual, there were early birds, but soon, members new and old alike started flooding the reception area, despite the heavy rain which might have discouraged a few from attending. The atmosphere at DYMK was cozy, and the crowd bantered and chattered, while sipping their drinks. The crowd warmed up nicely and soon it was time for some sharing of professional insights and experience from the guest speakers for the night.
Samuel Yeo, Mark, from Beacon Exec Search Consultants
Our speakers for the night, were Samuel Yeo (MD of Beacon Executive Search Consultants) and his colleague, Mark. The duo spoke briefly on Beacon's history and the company's capabilities. They then touched on the hottest roles in the near future, before sharing with the crowd the infocomm technology and vendors to watch out for in the near future. Since Beacon is a headhunting firm that specializes in IT, Mark shared with the floor how headhunters actually work, and the reasons for working with headhunters. Finally, Mark ended with some advices on how to have a productive relationship with headhunters. Thanks again to Sam and Mark for taking their time to grace the occasion and share their knowledge!
The night went on..
Jerry Siah and his volunteers came up and gave a brief introduction of A Nation In Concert and its details. The night then carried on, and people were freely engaging one another, and some could be seen busy exchanging name cards. At about 10pm, it was about time to head home. Thanks again to the members who made it despite the torrential downpour, to DYMK's friendly staff, and Sam and Mark for sharing with us. Do stay tuned for #5!
